Welcome to the new page especially for training for Reps and Stewards. UNISON operates a number of schemes for UNISON members who wish to undertake courses of study. This could be for:
The course will focus on encouraging and empowering those who self identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender to speak out against the cuts that are affecting them and the services that they use, and how to raise awareness of specialist services and agencies that serve LGBT people that are facing closure or losing their funding. The course will also look at how to campaign and encourage members to use their vote and understand why it counts. 23rd – 25th March 2012 VENUE: The Park Inn, Cardiff Course details and an application form are available to download (Word doc, 117KB). (06.02.12) -------------------------------------------------------------------------) The Wales TUC is offering a one-day essential update briefing for union reps in Wales. The briefing will include an employment law update (inc. TUPE and the Agency Worker Regulations), a briefing on the Welfare Reform Bill and its impact on members, as well as an introduction to the TUC Workplace Manual for reps and information on new bite-size online employment rights briefings for reps from TUC Education online. The event will also provide an opportunity to attend a variety of workshops on different topics and an update on current Wales TUC campaigns. This one-day course is an introduction to equality and requires no previous knowledge or experience. There will be an overview of the Equality Act 2010, which brings together law relating to Equal Opportunities and some new legal provisions. This course will look at how the Equality Act and UNISON's approach to Equality can be used to be more effective in organising & representing members and negotiating & bargaining with the employer. (06.02.12) ------------------------------ Wales TUC Education Service course booklet The new edition of the Wales TUC Education Service course booklet is available to download. The booklet contains full details of the courses on offer from September 2011 to July 2012. Wales TUC Education courses are offered across Wales at venues including Bridgend, Cardiff , Merthyr Tydfil, Newport, North Wales and Swansea. Alternatively you can request hard copies from the Wales TUC by emailing jrees@tuc.org.uk or tel 029 2034 7010.
